IBI-aws has been planned and developed with practicality in mind, for the needs of our IT Service department and based on the experiences of many of our customers. This symbiosis has resulted in the creation of software which comprehensively covers the requirements of such a system while, at the same time, also standing out by virtue of its inherent simplicity of installation and operation.

Information type

With IBI-aws you always inform your users at the right time. Users are always shown messages at a defined point in time (immediately, tomorrow 10:30, etc.) and for a fixed period (until they have been read or expired).

Two message types are available:

General message — In addition to the time and duration, it is also possible to set which user (groups) should receive the message.

Application specific message — This is an extension of the general message. This is only shown when the user is running a particular application or is about to start it. In the event of outages, important user questions arise such as: “What has happened?", "When can I start work again?". These are all answered using IBI-aws as soon as they arise.

Display types

Currently, three different display types are available. These can be selected according to the importance and priority of the corresponding information and are distinguished by their presence on the screen.

Fullscreen — The message covers the entire screen. After the message has been read, the user can close the message and then access the screen again. The display type is especially suited to important and urgent information.

Insertion — The message appears as an insertion at the edge of the screen. The user does not need to interrupt their working procedure and can read the message as soon as they have the time. If the user clicks on the insertion, the message is shown in full. This type of message is suitable for information that does not require immediate attention but is important nevertheless.

Silent — This is the most subtle display type. Messages of this type change the IBI-aws Client symbol – next to the system clock – into a flashing symbol and thus alert the user to a new message. If the user clicks the flashing symbol, the message is shown in full.

In general, any user can click the IBI-aws symbol in the taskbar to view the message again.

Central source of information

The system provides users with a valuable source of information in all functional areas. At administrator level, an employee on the Service Desk can see at a glance whether the user has been informed about incidents or maintenance work. At client level, the current messages are shown immediately. In addition, the user can obtain information about messages already viewed or upcoming messages. In this manner, users can get information on upcoming maintenance work and incorporate this into their personal work schedule.

Impact

With this feature, messages, early warnings, status messages and resolve messages can be evaluted (reporting). Find out how many users are affected, how many were shown the message and how many read it.

net send

Many administrators know and are familiar with the Windows command "net send". The receipt of such messages, however, is dependent on certain framework conditions and the information capabilities are very limited. Furthermore, this service is no longer available in new operating systems. IBI-aws is here to help. It provides the simplicity of "net send" but offers a multitude of options.

Blocking applications

A function which is highly appreciated by administrators is the option to prevent applications from being started and to end running applications. This is particularly necessary when maintenance work is being carried out which can result in problems as long as the applications are running.
